A WHOLE BLOG POST DEDICATED TO GETTING MY HAIRS CUT.

Preface:  If anyone has some miracle baggy eye cream, help a girl out.
Early last week I cut off the mane.
The all one length, split-end galore, bleh hair.
I’d been wanting to chop it for a while.
Itching for a change and tired of wasting an hour to blow dry my hair.
{I have ridiculously thick hair.}
Since my mom is a hair stylist she typically cuts my hair.
It’s easy.
{And cheap.}
I chopped my hair off really short three years ago and ever since then I’ve been on the “growing it out” trend.
So I only needed trims whenever I was home and it was convenient.
{Which is umm…maybe twice a year. Maybe.}
One of my friends started a reception job at a local salon and that made the hair-cutting itch even worse.
I asked for her recommendations.
And then made my appointment.
I browsed the Pinterest for inspiration.
But ended up with dry mouth in the chair saying, “Eh, what do you think would be best?”
She showed me a picture of what she was “envisioning” and I said, “Yes, yes, yes.”
So off those inches came.
Chop, chop, chop.
{And a lot more chopping because I have a lot of hairs.}
Then she dried it, put a little curl in it, then did that magical moment where they turn the chair around all dramatic like.
I wasn’t sure what to say.
I liked it.
But it was so different that it didn’t look like me.
Then I began to think, “What in the world have I done.”
And, “Josh is gonna kill me.”
I drove home looking in the review mirror a lot along the way.
It was growing on me.
I really like it.
My favorite reaction was my students’.
“Mrs. Rachel?”
or one kid:  “You look like Princess Ana.”
{Oh, shucks. ;)}
or this kid:  “You look like my mom’s friend.”
{Nice.}
Add in the fact that I was losing my voice and some of them didn’t even recognize me.
Now for the worst part of getting your hair cut – making it look like it did when you first got it cut.
My progress this far:  ponytail, bangs bobby-pinned back.
I-yi-yi.
