We sang so many beautiful hymns this morning.
I haven’t always loved hymns.
I used to make fun of them.
You know, put “under the bed” behind every title.
Kids these days…
But then I started reading the background on some favorites.
And actually paying attention to the words.
Then I started to love hymns.
I loved researching them and finding the meaning behind the phrases.
Like this one.
The passion and excitement the writer has for this thought that our sin has been completely taken away.
You can see he can barely hold it in.
It’s a shout:
“Oh the bliss!”
“My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!”
